NO CONCESSIONS will be sold at this event. Please bring your own snacks.
Evergreen Elementary PTA invites you to participate in its Annual International Day celebration themed “Weddings” exploring various style of traditional weddings around the World.
When and where: March 1, 2024 (Friday) 5pm - 8pm Eagles Nest
Registration timeline: Jan 22, 2024 to Feb 2, 2024
International day takes place in 4 parts:
Parade of Nations at 2 pm on the event day and is open to all grades (TK-6)
NEW! If you would like your child to participate in the parade, you need to register. Only registered students will be invited to the parade. Even if you have registered for being a flag or country ambassador, please sign up again for the parade also.
This change is being done to streamline the parade and allow for a longer parade for students to enjoy!

World Tour at 5- 6pm and 7-8pm on event day in EAGLES NEST
2a. Flag Ambassadors: Open to lower grades (TK-3)
Students use their creativity to design / decorate the assigned country flag for display in Eagles Nest on the day of the event. Scroll down for more details and samples.

2b. Country Ambassadors: Open to upper grades (4th-6th)
Students can work in groups to represent the country assigned to them with facts about the theme "Weddings" . They will share the information by requesting a booth on the day of the event. Scroll down for more details.

Cultural Performances at 6-7pm and open to all grades (TK-6) in EAGLES NEST
NEW! Students will be given countries to choose from (just like country ambassadors). Students will pick their top 3 countries and then a country will be assigned (just like country ambassadors). Student will then create a cultural performance based on the country assigned. We are limiting the performances to 15 and if we receive more than 15, there will be a lottery.
This change is being done to encourage students to explore different countries and cultures. Cultural performances are not tied to the theme.

Parade of Nations

Parade of Nations takes place from 2 -2:30pm on the blacktop on the day of the event March 1, 2024 (during school hours). PTA will provide country flags. Only Registered Students will be invited to join the parade.
TK and Kinder parents are requested to wait until the parade is done at 2:30pm to pick up their kids.
The youngest student in each country group will lead the country in the parade.

World Tour
Flag Ambassadors (Grades TK - 3)
Step 1: Registration

You will be notified of your assigned country choice no later than Feb 9, 2024.
Recommended group size: 1
Step 2: Picking Poster Board
A blank poster board will be provided to you by PTA. It will be available for pickup at the office once the country assignments are done. An email will be sent with exact date and time for pick up.
Step 3: Decorate the flag and bring it back
Use your creativity to decorate your assigned country flag. Submit the flags no later than Feb 27, 3pm at the office. Please write the student's name and grade behind the poster board. The Flags will be displayed in Eagles Nest on the day of the event. See below images for samples.
This event is provided to you by the Evergreen Elementary PTA and is a free event for all students and staff to attend. We encourage participants to use items found in your home for craft supplies. The PTA does not offer any reimbursement.
Country Ambassadors (Grades 4-6)
Step 1: Registration
Register here. (Please fill only one form/ group). Deadline to register is midnight, Feb 2, 2024.
You will be notified of your assigned country choice no later than Feb 9, 2024.
Recommended group size: 2-4
Step 2: Picking Presentation Board
A blank presentation board will be provided to you by PTA. It be available for pickup at the office once the country assignments are done. An email will be sent with exact date and time for pick up.
Step 3: Prepare your presentation
Communicate and work with your group to share information about the festivals for the assigned country. Your group is responsible for creating a country table display and manning the display at the event. It is optional to provide a cultural craft and dessert tasting at the event.
Presentation Board – The name of your country should be at the center top portion of the board. Keeping this year’s theme of “Weddings” in mind, decorate your board exploring the different festivals from your country. Use your creativity to display appropriate cultural items such as artifacts, books, props, etc.
Craft (optional)– Provide a cultural craft, complete with instructions if necessary, to be distributed at the event and completed by students either at home or at the activity table during the event. Examples of crafts include, origami, masks, leis, coloring pages, and bookmarks. We expect approximately 110 children to take home crafts.
Dessert Tasting (optional) – You may choose to provide a SMALL tasting of ethnic DESSERT. You will be able to share home-made or store bought desserts. All ingredients should be listed at the booths.
Step 4: Day of Event
Show up at the event with your family in your best country attire to Tour the World!!
Arrival: Country ambassadors are allowed to come as early as 4:00pm to set up their country booth.
Please plan on having at least one ambassador from your group at your display at all times. Additional help can be assigned to your table, if needed. You will not need to man your display during performances as the World Tour will be closed.

Step 2: Send music files
Music must be sent to events@evergreenpta.org on or before Monday, Feb 27, 2024.
Group name in subject of the email and the song name clearly mentioned in the body of the email.
Please note that each performance is limited to 2min 30sec.
All music files must be in a wav, mp3 or mp4 file to be able to work on the speaker. Please convert any youtube links or any other music source url's to wav, mp3 or mp4 format using any of the free softwares available online. NOTE: PTA is not responsible if ads start playing while using a youtube or third party link.
Step 3: Rehearsal
Rehearsal is on Thursday, Feb 29, 2024 at 1:30 pm afterschool in the Eagles Nest.
A reminder will be emailed close to rehearsal.
Costumes and accessories are optional.
Step 4: Day of the event (Friday, March 1, 2024)
Performances begin around 6:00pm
5:30pm – be onsite ready(with costume and makeup) and check in right side of stage podium
5:50pm – we’ll start to allow groups to come back based on order – No parents please
6:00pm – Performances will start
Eat after school or bring snacks – no eating backstage, please.
